Do you want to better engage with elected officials? Are direct connections with legislators part of your community outreach strategy? Do you want to learn more about the nuances of the legislative process?

The training covers the Legislative and Budget processes, as well as the most effective ways to engage at the grassroots level with your representatives. Ensuring your voice is heard by elected officials – and your community’s needs are understood – is critical to giving your center a voice and position of respect in the conversations that are always happening about the developmental services system.

Helping you better advocate for local needs helps you directly, and our system as a whole, by putting real faces and living stories to the work you do every day. Legislators and other elected officials already hear from people served, their family, and the service providers who work with them in the community. Our Governmental Affairs training will help you become an informed and valued part of that conversation!

This training will be interactive and will ask those of you who have engaged in advocacy with your local representatives to talk about your experiences.
