A Sensational World: Basics on Sensory Processing

Saturday Speaker Series

Special Event

Presented by Seka Metran, OTR/L

The Saturday Speaker Series offers presentations that cover topics that are relevant to all of our families and service providers.  They are presented by HRC staff who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in their areas of expertise.  Presentations are scheduled on Saturday mornings for the convenience of families and service providers.  Participants will have the opportunity to view the presentation and ask questions.

Our brain develops by sensing and processing our environment. We are able to take in information from our environment and how we process that information will dictate how we interact with the world around us. Our sensory system is the foundation to building cognitive and motor skills. It also impacts how we interact and form relationships with our family and community. Through this presentation, parents and caregivers will learn what sensory processing is and how it impacts our everyday routines. Tips and strategies on how a child may be processing sensory information and how to mindfully incorporate sensory processing strategies into a child’s daily routine will be provided.   The content in this presentation is geared towards families who have children 0-5 years old.

Currently, all offerings will be scheduled as Zoom meetings.

Please contact Claudia Sandoval at claudia.sandoval@harborrc.org about upcoming topics and to receive Zoom meeting details.
