Teachers, agency personnel, advocates, and other professionals who support students ages 13-26 years old with disabilities are encouraged to attend to learn how to establish partnerships with families that lead to improved employment opportunities for students.
BUILD PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & LEARN TO:
- Use parent training materials from the CA DD Council to help families embrace competitive employment as part of their student’s future.
- Establish a better understanding of the experience of families.
- Explore the impact of expectations and messaging on the decisions families make.
- Help families play a role in skill-building and finding opportunities for community-based work experiences.
- Help families work through fears and apprehensions about competitive employment.
